Marwar Festival
(25th
October to 26th October at Jodhpur)
The
Marwar Festival is
celebrated in the Sun City of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. A two days long event,
it takes place in the Hindu month of Ashwin
(September-October),
during the full moon of Sharad Poornima. The Marwar Festival of Jodhpur is
mainly dedicated to the folk heroes of Rajasthan. Also known as the
Maand Festival,
it revolves around the lifestyle of the rulers of Rajasthan. The
magnificent Mehrangarh
Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace and Mandore
play as the perfect host to this festival.
Jodhpur Marwar Festival
brings to the forefront
the folk music and folk dance of the Marwar region. Folk dancers carrying
pots on their heads as well as the
folk singers
keep you enchanted with their performances. The days of yore, of
battles and valiant heroes
appear to be standing still in time. Infact, it seems as if one has gone
back to the royal bygone
era of the state and is
reliving it. The camel tattoo show and
camel polo
are some of the other attractions at
the Marwar Festival of Rajasthan.
