Any parts of car engine to avoid if spraying with water to clean?

Hello,

I'd like to spray off my car engine with water to clean it. Are there any parts I should stay away from per spraying?

Also, they have cans of chemical engine cleaner at places like auto parts stores. You spray it

If you have a carburetor, remove the air filter and housing and cover the carb with a plastic bag. Spray the spark plug and coil wires with WD-40 and avoid directing a spray on them, otherwise everything else is pretty water proof. The
