Honda alternator question...?
How do you get the two halves of a Honda Civic alternator apart? I've taken the regulator, brushes and all the screws and nuts off, but something is still holding the two halves of the casing together.
The 'secret' is that (according to the service manual) you need to use a heat gun (1000 watt hair dryer) to heat the rear bearing shell on the back case for about 5 minutes. The bearing shell is the circle in the center of the rear housing that the alternator
