Happy Halloweener Everyone...I lived in a haunted house many years ago way back in the late 70's, I rented an apartment across the alley from a funeral home. The first night I moved in I was so tired I crashed on my bed in the living room. Soon after I heard a noise opened my eyes and this old lady was sitting on my sofa smiling at me. I shut my eyes opened them again and she was gone. The apartment house was owned by The Trust for Historic Preservation of Northwest Indiana. It was built in the 1800's, it was a huge 2 story Victorian with high ceilings. There was a faded old sign over the front door that read Hammond School of Music. Besides being a loyal listener to The Loop Rock Station in Chicago, I never heard any music in that house. My Apartment had a winding stair case to the 2nd floor it had a window with a view of the funeral home. The bathroom was under the stairway it had an old claw tub and a window face high as you sat in the tub with a view of the funeral home. I got all my things moved in the next day relaxing in the living room with a beer, I heard a window shatter in my kitchen and saw a huge grey rock roll across the floor. I jumped up real quick and grabbed the rock but before I could it disappeared. I looked at the kitchen window and it wasn't broken. I knew I heard it shatter..I heard a wooosh sound behind me and the wall burst into flames! I grabbed a cooking pot out of the sink filled it with water and threw it on the fire which was no longer there..I got the HELL outta there and found the neighborhood bar I spent many days after work in that bar getting good and drunk before I went home. Ghosts did not bother me when I was drunk. The landlord told me once to never go into the attic which had a padlock on it...Well I did go up there. Next to a window was an old rocking chair, a stack of old newspapers from around WW2, a mason jar with a piece of bread in it, stale-like. I had a book of matches in my back pocket which lit up while I was up there in the attic catching my shirt on fire. Somehow I lost my footing while I was freaking out and fell backwards through my ceiling landing in my bedroom. I ran down those stairs like my butt was on fire cause it was! And I never spent another night in that old house. I left all my stuff there gone like the wind...I've had a few experiences throughout my life more so after being in a coma back in '75. I'm a believer of all things spiritual and in the Spirit World.
