help!how do i get a fire started in the fireplace?i start with newspaper, fire starters and twigs. flue open.?

the wood is not green and it is too dangerous to use charcoal fluid. it never burns beyond the twigs! boo hoo!

You need to work up to the larger pieces gradually.
Paper, twigs, sticks, branches, ... then logs.
Just twigs don't make enough sustained heat to start
a very large chunk of wood burning.
