my car is making a clicking noise from the left rear kinda like a 10 speed bicycle! What could this be?

I have a 1997 chrysler sebring which just starting making this loud clicking noise like a ten speed bicycle.it stops sorta when I step on the brake. What can this be, and can it be fixed inexpensivlely
It sounds to me like it's time to take it to a shop and have the brakes inspected. Could be something broken inside or the shoes or pads are worn out.
Don't hesitate to get this done. You are endangering yourself and others everytime
