what is the diference in torque between a chevy vortec starter and a high torque racing starter?

I know a high torque starter usually has a 4:1 gear reduction and has about 160 lbs. of torque does any body have any stats on a chevy Vortec starter, will a Vortec starter work on my 1979 chevy block and roll over 12:1 compression?

12:1 compression is gonna be alittle much for the stock GM starter to handle.
